Live beautifully is something rewarding in itself, and Paul Mitchell has made it his mission, through The Gathering, to become the ambassador for motivation and mindful will to succeed within the beauty business.
Such an extraordinary purpose begs for a mighty entrance, and industry icon John Paul DeJoria, John Paul Mitchell Systems CEO and Chairman, entered in a motorcycle representing his true wild side, while symbolizing the revolution that he was going to invoke within each stylist that was present at this skill-building event.
“Successful people do all of the things that unsuccessful people do not want to do,” said DeJoria in his speech, motivating everyone in the audience with chills and an exciting sense of determination.
More than 3,000 pros collectively traveled to Las Vegas to learn about DeJoria’s business wisdom that he shares, along with the innovation and incredible collaborations and educators that Paul Mitchell selected to represent the brand in this extraordinary event. The opening show on Monday, August 15th kicked off with DeJoria emerging on stage to welcome audience members, introduce his partner Angus Mitchell, and announce John Paul Mitchell Systems’ latest accomplishments, highlighting the importance of charity and giving back.
A number of on‐stage presentations exquisitely brought every John Paul Mitchell Systems brand to life, and this year’s most amazing launch was introduced by DeJoria’s daughter Michaeline, Vice Chairman and Director of Future Development at John Paul Mitchell Systems. NEON, a line exclusively designed for Gen Z and their moms is the only one of its kind on the professional market – to learn more about NEON, click here!
But innovations didn’t stop here, and after a colorfully outstanding model presentation on stage, Robert Cromeans, Paul Mitchell’s Global Artistic Director, and Jason Yates, VP of Sales and Marketing of John Paul Mitchell Systems, introduced two new exciting launches in the color category: The Demi – Paul Mitchell’s new demi-permanent hair color, a perfect fuson of shine, condition and coverage presenting 27 intermixable shades; and Pop XG – a vibrant semi-permanent cream color to experience the power of paint with 13 intermixable, electric shades.
Then attendees chose to enjoy amongst several hands-on classes focused on haircutting and color. Paul Mitchell also added in four artistic Look & Learn segments, and business focused sessions that allowed salon owners and managers to learn more. This first day Paul Mitchell also unveiled the Color Outside The Lines winners: British stylist Alexandria Garner scooped the international prize, while Tyson Noriega (Ogden, UT) was crowned the national winner, and Amanda Smith (Tulsa, OK) conquered the New Talent Award. At night, guests were invited to eat, drink and be glamourous! The Black Tie Affair gave peers a chance to mingle with friends and fellow Paul Mitchell pros from around the world as they enjoyed signature Patron cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing.
Tuesday marked the last day of this fascinating event with an inspiring opening General Session featuring world-renowned motivational speaker Tim Storey, followed by more hands-on classes and Look & Learn presentations including MITCH Men’s Grooming and NEON styles, and more business sessions presented to salon owners and managers featuring the amazing speakers from Business rEvolution.
The Grand Finale Show presented by Robert Cromeans was an extraordinary, inspirational display of artistry featuring the outstanding work of the Paul Mitchell Artistic Team. It was an explosion of color, passion, and genuine bonds that transform a career into a strong family – and Paul Mitchell’s The Gathering makes everyone feel like Christmas! The culture of this brand is unifying and shamelessly bold, much like JP’s motorcycle that started off this grandiose celebration of hairdressing.
