Pivot Point International and Exthand joined forces at CEA in Las Vegas recently to introduce cosmetology educators to the latest innovation in shears that will help new hairdressers escape the excruciating pains often associated with their craft.
Pivot Point specializes in helping educators access innovations that put students’ wellbeing at the heart of education, and so was one of the first to link with the pioneering shears producer.
Exthand is determined to change the dismal track record of an industry in which career-destroying injuries often force talented stylists out of their beloved job. Research has shown that nearly half of newly qualified hairstylists will develop occupational injuries within 10 years of starting their career due to constant twisting, bending and arching of the arms while cutting hair.
“It was great to meet so many fantastic educators,” said Exthand’s number one fan, Shannon King. “They just kept asking me, why did we not have this 30 years ago? Exthand gives hope to experienced stylists who are silently suffering real pain in their shoulders, back and arms every day, while guaranteeing our new, fresh and hopeful stylists will never develop the same injuries.“
