Illusions Salon of Georgetown, a Goldwell exclusive color salon, recently sponsored the winner of the 2016 Miss Teen Virginia competition, Ms. Elisabetta Cantatore of Great Falls.
The salon donated hair and makeup services to support Ms. Cantatore, a sophomore at George Mason University, in her quest for the title. Ms. Cantatore was crowned at a ceremony in April and will go on to compete in Orlando for the national title.
“This was a unique opportunity for us not only to support a bright young woman, but also to reach an audience we might not otherwise – expanding our circle a bit,” says Irma Wheeler, owner of Illusions.
The Miss Teen Pageant is not the typical parade of swimsuits and high heels. It focuses instead on personal qualities and self-confidence. “Elisabetta is lovely on the inside and outside,” said Wheeler. “And stylist Megan Torr brought out her best with Goldwell hair color and highlights, while Yvette Guerra perfected her makeup before the pageant.”
“There are so many ways you can support worthy organizations, but this sponsorship gave us the opportunity to do it with our work,” adds Wheeler. “Elisabetta was a walking, talking showcase of our stylists’ talent.”
After struggling with depression as a young teenager, Cantatore is now devoting herself to raising awareness and helping others. She is studying developmental psychology and hopes one day to be-come a therapist for teenagers and children or perhaps a forensic psychologist, who would testify in court, perform risk-assessment tests and talk with troubled youths.
“Elisabetta really looked beautiful, and I’m especially proud to say she is now a convert to Goldwell’s Kerasilk shampoo – a great endorsement for a product we love,” adds Wheeler. “We’ll be cheering for her in Orlando!”
