Last Monday, Mizani Global Artistic Director Cesar Ramirez styled both Kim Kardashian and Ciara for their NYC Met Gala 2016 red carpet stellar appearance. Learn from Cesar on how to get their looks using Mizani products!
Kim Kardashian
“For the past few weeks leading up to the Met Gala Kim and I spoke about multiple look ideas. We went back and fourth about what we should do and it wasn’t until the evening before, that we really locked in a look. That’s why I believe it’s so important to always to attend “The Fitting.” The Balmain dress was so major on its own we opted to keep her hair Sexy and Fresh. I just wanted the hair to look wet and completely undone. The look may be very simple, but it actually takes a lot of steps to achieve. I even had to flex my colorist skills since I had to bleach and dye Kim’s brows,” says Cesar Ramirez.
“On freshly washed hair I began prepping with Mizani 25 Miracle Milk, its extremely moisturizing and will protect the hair from every other layer of product. Next, I parted out an inch around her hair line and using Mizani Edge Taming Gel I brushed and hair while pinning everything back. I sprayed the hair from roots to ends with Mizani HRM to hold in place. Then, I brushed the hairline I initially left out to cover the rest of the hair and hide my pins. I then used my blowdryer on a low setting to heat and set everything in place. To finish I sprayed with Mizani Hi-Def Shyne Spray giving everything a super shiny wet look.“
Ciara
“For Ciara’s, look I really wanted to play up the futuristic theme of “Manus x Machina,” while still keeping a soft and sexy feel. Ciara’s look is a silver metallic finger wave swept back, coiled and twisted and adorned with artistic arrangement of pins. Met Ball is a time to really push limits and I usually begin conceptualizing as soon as the theme is released,” says Cesar Ramirez.
“Months of planning went into Ciara’s final look, from the pre-production of hairstyles to the fine details of product testing for the perfect silver effect. On the day of the ball the styling took a couple hours from setting the hair to pinning to finishing touches. To achieve this look I prepped with Mizani True Textures Style Refresher Milk. I then dried the hair, I iron curled and set her hair in pin clips.”
“I allowed my set to cool before removing my clips and brushing everything with Mizani HRM Spray to begin my dry finger wave. I sculpted each wave into a classic shape and secured with multiple silver Bobby pins. For the back section, I took each set curl and silver bobby pined while coiled inspired by a retro pin curl set with futuristic arrangement finish. This look tonight is sure to be a showstopper and we are excited about it!“
