From House of Color in Colorado Springs, CO, meet color specialist Sami Schneider! Here, Sami shares her secrets to silver-pink perfection!
Inspiration: “My client came in wanting the yellow gone and to have silver hair and also told me I can add my ‘Sami touch’ to it – I love adding fun colors into anything and everything!”
*Sami notes that although she didn’t get a “Before” picture, that the client had a grown out ombre with roots and midshaft at a level 5.*
Step 1: I lightened her all over using Vero light lightener from Joico with 20 vol in her midshaft area and 10 vol on her ends. I use Saran Wrap to separate each section. The picture below is after the balayage, no toning. Power blow dry.
Step 2: Formulation breakdown! I used Kenra 8SM with a ribbon of violet additive 10vol, 9VM with a ribbon of violet additive 10vol, and 10sm 10vol and for the pink I used magenta diluted with clear from Joico. With these colors I picked out darker blonde pieces and applied the 8SM then I followed through with the 9VM, 10SM & magenta to create a dimensional silver.
Step 3: Styling! I prepped the hair with heat protectant from Joico, then curled her hair with a 1in styling wand from Paul Mitchell. Once the curls were set, I brushed them out with my fingers!
