How-To: Sarah Silverman’s Rich Brunette Color Created by Rona O’Connor

Goldwell Celebrity Colorist, Rona O’Connor, helped transform Oscar presenter, Sarah Silverman, into a deep, rich brunette for the red carpet of the 2016 Academy Awards. Check out Rona’s color preparation for her big night!

I like to create lighter face framing hairlines on darker brunettes, giving a softer look overall,” says Rona. “In preparation for the Academy Awards I wanted to create a high shine and multifaceted rich brunette that would sparkle under the lights. To achieve these results, I used the new Goldwell Kerasilk Color Treatment line.”

Rona created Sarah’s brunette shade with a level 6 Goldwell Topchic, framing her face and a Goldwell Topchic formula that is 50% level 5 and 50% level 6 at her regrowth processing all for 30 minutes.

To create transparency on dark brunettes and add additional hues, she finished her hair color with a lighter shade in a demi-permanent Colorance, level 7.

To give her hair extra shine, she first colored Sarah with Goldwell Topchic color. She then rinsed and shampooed with Goldwell Kerasilk Color Shampoo. Before applying her Colorance mixture, she prepped her hair from root to ends with Goldwell Kerasilk Color Structure Balancing Treatment, to equalize porosity for even color absorption.

Rona then applied her Colorance formula from roots to ends on towel blotted hair and processed for 10 minutes before rinsing. Next, she applied the Goldwell Kerasilk Color Intensive Luster Mask for 10 minutes giving a deep nourishing treatment that contains highly light refractive tamanu oil.

After rinsing the treatment, she then applied Goldwell Kerasilk Color Finishing Cream leave-in treatment, locking in the color to prevent it from fading for up to 6 weeks .

While watching Sarah during the Academy Awards, I was happy to see my mission to create super high shine and reflective hair was accomplished,” says Rona.
