Farouk Systems celebrates as the Official Haircare Sponsor for Miss Universe

For over 10 years, Farouk Systems Artistic Team has created the Miss Universe winning looks for contestants around the world!

On December 20, 2015 at Las Vegas’s Planet Hollywood, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines was crowned the 64th Miss Universe. Farouk Systems, the official haircare sponsor for the past 10 years, was on hand to create her winning look.

Prior to the live telecast, Farouk Systems Artistic Team arrived on site November 30th to provide the 80 contestants with CHI Haircare products and services. Upon arrival, Global Artistic Team Member Tammy Mixon has been in charge of the Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen Pageants. She assists in coordinating the looks with each team member and contestants.

The multiple looks needed for each girl were created with both CHI and Miss Universe Style Illuminate products. This included their glamor shots, preliminary judging, on-site pre-taped events, dress rehearsal as well as each phase of the live judging.

On hand to represent Farouk Systems was Founder and Chairman, Farouk Shami who proudly congratulated Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach on winning the title. Celebrity judges helping to make the final decision included: Emmit Smith, Nicey Nash, Perez Hilton and Olivia Culpo. Hosting the night’s pageant was Steve Harvey along with Roselyn Sanchez.

According to Farouk Systems CEO, Basim Shami, “It is our longstanding goal to help young women from around the world achieve their goals. We encourage them to live their dreams and make a difference in the world today. The new Miss Universe, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, is a prime example of strength, professionalism as well as beauty.”

The winning look was created by Farouk Systems Master Level Artist, Lauren Young. Her inspiration for the “CHI-gnon” came from Pia’s evening gown as well as highlighting her excellent bone structure. To create the look, Lauren prepped the hair with CHI Dry Shampoo and Conditioner to freshen her final look of the evening. She sprayed CHI Magnified Volume Extra Firm Hair Spray through the hair to provide control and added volume then brushing it into a sleek low ponytail. Lauren took a small section from the ponytail and wrapped it around the base of the band and securing with bobby pins to cover the band. Next, she applied a filler piece shaped into a crescent and secured with pins. Lauren then applied a small amount of CHI Pliable Polish to the ponytail and took sections and swept them up and over the filler, securing with additional bobby pins. To finish the hair, she sprayed with Miss Universe Style Illuminate’s Spotlight Shine Spray for added glisten.
