A golden shower descended on the LBP Front Row stage last night, the hottest hair trade event capable of luring 91 different countries into the crowd as Oribe’s Kien Hoang’s models walked off of the stage in golden attire.
This weekend was the beginning of one of the newest and most influential hair trade events to date. Miami was able to lure a carefully curated audience of stylists in need their educational experiences to be just as classy as they are informative. This hair education event is taking place until January 12 in the hottest locations that the city of Miami has to offer.
ESTETICA was there from the start and witnessed a selection of top stylists ready to share their secrets through workshops, world acclaimed keynote speakers, and parties — both by the pool and behind Miami’s top velvet rope nightclubs.
Saturday night, was the day that framed the prestigious LBP Lifetime Achievement award honoring the legendary John Paul DeJoria, whose rags-to-riches biography exemplifies the American dream and is the Co-Founder & Chairman of the Board for John Paul Mitchell Systems & The Patrón Spirits Company. It took continuous hard work to achieve success, launching multiple global enterprises, while always supporting his motto, “Success Unshared is Failure.”
James Pecis, Oribe Hair Care Global Brand Ambassador, presented last night with the sole intention of reminding hairstylists how fun the craft of hairstyling can be, even for a celebrity hairstylist. His show included some of the most seminal images within contemporary fashion and immersed participants in the technical world of editorial styling.
This year’s event is held at Mana Studios, a 115,000 square-foot facility located in the heart of Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood — home to the famous Art Basel show and named one of Vogue’s “Top 15 Coolest Neighborhoods in the World.” Ronnie Stam and Joey George inspired their whole collection on one of these Wynwood graffitis, where black and white waves and lines found a way to recreate a whole new story on the model’s hair.
Industry icon Vivienne Mackinder started off the show with the very unique and important concept of face framing, a tool that should be used by all stylists, because, “emphasizing, disguising, and balancing shapes is part of what we do, in order to create the best silhouette for your client.”
Nicci Welsh followed with a more natural collection and message, centered on products that act as a “texture wardrobe for you and your client’s hair.” Goldwell’s Rebbeca Hiele & Shane Bennett, on the other hand, used fashion muses as the nucleus of their collection, chasing classical icon looks, like Twiggy, Bridget Bardot, and also selecting modern icons, like JLo, Lady Gaga, and Madonna.
Attendees can expect a curated selection of top hairstylists to share their secrets through workshops, world acclaimed keynote speakers, packed inside a weekend-long festival. Additional notable names will make an appearance at the Front Row Owner’s Forum today, featuring Frank Gambuzza – President of Intercoiffure America/Canada, David Thurston – Founder of Butterfly Loft and Butterfly Circus, Kelly Gorsuch – Elle top 100 salon owner, Dr. Gilda Shepperd – Award-winning filmmaker, Kaite Lyn Christoffersen – Social media innovator, and Maggie Mulhern – Modern Salon Magazine Editor.
