Joico’s Celebrity Hairstylist Paul Norton proved he could match the ‘Pitch Perfect’ 1 & 2 star’s talents with his own, behind the chair!
Thanks to him, Kether Donohue was “pitch perfect” posing with her ‘Grease: Live’s’ co-stars, all of whom went for a dark but flirty style at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. We decided to tip-toe our way into the hair world of People’s Choice to get some tips on how Paul created this wonderful look:
“Since it was pouring down rain out side and we knew we wanted big body curls/waves pushed to ones side: I began by using Joico Power Gel sculpting gel on damp hair and blowing it out with a medium sized boar bristle round brush until fully dry.”
“Next I created a deep side part on her right side, after which I used a 1 1/4 inch curling iron to set the hair, placing some sections under, and some sections over the hair to give different directions to each wave. For each section I sprayed Joico Design Works styling spray to enforce my curls hold, while still working the hair. I set each curl with a silver hair clamp.”
“The most important part of my process was the fact that I let the hair cool for 20 min. Next I released the clamps and had her lean her head all the way back and then applied Joico K-PAK Protect and Shine Serum, using my fingers to comb through the entire head and then swept it to the left side.”
“I used Joico Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing spray to confine the right side close to the head as well as placing two bobby pins for hold. I then gently back-combed sections of the curls just so they would stay together for the most part.”

“Finally, I used more Flip Turn to eliminate any fly-aways and over the entire head to finish the look and make sure it kept it’s hold.”
