As the vintage trend dictates, hair is long on top and held in place with a gel that gives a wet-look effect. Sides and sideburns are instead clipped to almost zero, leaving room for a radical shave. The face is clean-shaven; nix the beard. This new men’s look by Matty Conrad struts its stuff.
Get the Look!
Step 1: Set a horseshoe section right at the round of the head that is flat and parallel to the ground. Lock it away, as it will be the top section.
Step 2: Create a tight taper that transitions from a 0.5 at the bottom to a #2 on top. This is easiest to achieve if you start at the top with the #2 blade and slowly work your way down in descending lengths until you reach the occipital. Then set your adjustable clippers to 1/2 open and shave the nape compartment rocking upwards to blend to the previous section.
Step 3: Take linear sections across the top and overdirect them back to the weightline. Elevate each section as you move forward to avoid a heavy buildup at the back and to elongate the length at the front.
Step 4: Draw the top section out to the sides and softly chip in a descending line that flows from the weightline towards the tip of the nose.
Step 5: Blow-dry the hair using a Denman brush. Build maximum volume around the face while compressing the volume at the crown.
Step 6: Apply OSiS Flex Wax to control the hair and to give it a satin sheen.
Step 7: Apply the product throughout the hair evenly.
Step 8: Comb the hair perfectly into place.
