Mizani, the professional authority for all textured hair, is excited to announce César Ramirez as the brand’s Global Artistic Director. Known as a creative maverick, César Ramirez’s styling technique has made him one of the most sought after stylists in the Hollywood hair scene.
Having created iconic hairstyles such as Jennifer Hudson’s signature pixie and Ciara’s blonde ombre bob, Ramirez is known as an innovator in the beauty and fashion world. He has an ever-growing list of celebrity clientele, and has worked with Beyonce, Taraji P. Henson, Khloe Kardashian, La La Anthony, Demi Lovato and Rita Ora, among others.
As Mizani’s Global Artistic Director, Ramirez will serve as a spokesperson for the brand. He will lead education initiatives and events, provide artistic direction on photo shoots and offer product vision and insight. Ramirez will also contribute to digital and social media campaigns, develop relevant professional and consumer content and support key product launches, such as the recently introduced Mizani True Textures collection: a luxurious haircare and styling range for curls, coils and waves.
With 16 years in the industry, Ramirez’s raw creative talent and passion for hairdressing has taken him from behind the chair at Dop Dop Salon to Global Artistic Director status. Throughout his journey, César has apprenticed under some of the most highly renowned stylists in the industry, allowing him to fully develop his artistic eye and hone his technical skills to become a true artist of the craft. He credits industry icons Ruth Roche for inspiring him artistically and editorially, and Jo Blackwell and Lori Zabel, who assisted in cultivating his cut, color and technical skills at the New York City salon.
“I’m honored to have been chosen and trusted by Mizani to be the brand’s Global Artistic Director and to officially be welcomed into the L’Oréal family,” says Ramirez. “I believe Mizani to already be the leading professional brand within the multicultural and textured hair market. My goal is to build Mizani’s image to be the most successful, sexiest and sought-after brand by all markets. I aim to empower the Mizani Hair Artists to grow into well-rounded educators. Together, we will shape the future of the textured hair industry by blurring the lines between color and texture, by making everyone we touch feel beautiful, and by inspiring other stylists within our industry. I plan to use my creative eye to help revolutionize Mizani into the next level; with an authentic, timeless and effortless feel like I have done with all my celebrity clients.”
Cesar is known to create meticulous and polished looks that merge structure, sexiness and artistic allure. He has served as Creative Director on five music videos this year for pop musical duo Dumblonde. His looks have been seen on many TV shows such as ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Celebrity Apprentice’. His work has graced the covers and adorned the pages of Essence, W, Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Latina, Vanity Fair and many other magazines. He has also garnered recognition for the impeccable vision he brings to the runways, where he has worked with fashion forward designers like Victor De Sousa, Katie Gallagher, Carlos Campos, Michael Costello and Narciso Rodriguez. He has been recognized by the industry’s media outlets, where he has earned Best Hair for his work during Fashion Week on several seasons.
“Cesar Ramirez is an innovative stylist with an immense body of work and a unique point of view,” says Shane Wolf, Worldwide General Manager, Mizani. “With tremendous expertise in transforming textured hair he is a perfect fit as Mizani’s Global Artistic Director. We are excited to embark on a new chapter for Mizani with Cesar as a partner and look forward to reaching an expanded audience of professionals and consumers.”
“The world of textured hair is an ever growing one. I believe that by merging my expertise of all hair textures with the experts on the Mizani team, we will form a highly educated, experienced and creative new way of styling and maintaining textured hair,” comments Ramirez. “We plan to push past the boundaries most have not yet recognized as boundaries. From color trends to innovative cuts to creating new textures, we will be ready to take this industry by storm.”
