It was all over the runway for SS’16 – from Tommy Hilfiger to Isabel Marant, to Stella McCartney, all eyes were on the messy, undone hair (in addition to the clothes of course)!
However, looking this “messy” actually requires some work. Emmy award-winning hairdresser and Creative Director for salon professional brands, ProRituals and Marilyn Brush, Terrence Michael Renk, shares his tips on how to give your client this on-trend spring look.
Step 1:
After shampooing and conditioning, towel dry hair and apply a volumizer such as ProRituals Volume Texture Foam which builds lift, body and texture into the hair. Volume Texture Foam is infused with repairing proteins and is rich in botanicals to keep hair healthy during styling.
Step 2:
Blow dry hair using a diffuser, “srunching” it while you dry to create additional texture.
Step 3:
After hair is dry, pull individual strands of the hair and push the hair up using your hands. DO NOT BACKCOMB! Just use your hands to gently push on the dry hair.
Step 4:
Use a brush with a wider bristle like Marilyn Brush’s New Yorker, to push curl into the hair and create an exaggerated look. The New Yorker is Marilyn Brush’s take on the famous Mason Pearson brush (an affordable option!) and features a sleek wood handle with premium natural boar bristles and nylon quills. Nylon quills help to stimulate the scalp and distribute natural oils. The soft, durable pneumatic pad eliminates static and gives hair a finished look.
Step 5:
Finish with a high hold hair spray such as ProRituals Mega Hold Hairspray.
