Charlie Le Mindu is one of the world’s most amazing hair designers. He has been styling many international celebrities including Lana del Rey, Florence Welsh and Peaches.
Le Mindu gained international recognition as the ultimate French avant-garde hair artist with his extravagant wigs and hair dresses for Lady Gaga and his spectacular haute couture collections, which he regularly presents at Paris and London Fashion Week.
His revolutionary creations are now illustrated in a newly released coffee table book “Haute Coiffure” which documents his life and exceptional work of hair art.
Whether he’s producing fluorescent hair creations that are inspired by the depths of the oceans, or creating massive hair sculptures with real gilded hair or avant-garde hair dresses, the creative work of artist Le Mindu is characterized by extraordinary aesthetics. At the center of all his creations is the main material: natural, real hair. Le Mindu puts great emphasis on the quality of his main material since he started designing in 2010. For his creations, he exclusively uses high quality, hand-selected real hair from Hairdreams.
The coffee table book “Haute Coiffure” celebrates Le Mindu‘s career from its beginnings: his extraordinary exhibitions in Berlin, where he enriched the club scene through his hair cutting performances, then his career in London, where he was named the first ‟Avant-Garde Hair Director” of Harrod’s Urban Retreat Spa. He also presented his first-ever haute couture collection at London Fashion Week which then led Le Mindu to the ultimate Fashion mecca, Paris. In Paris, Le Mindu showcased his spectacular designs in the windows of the prestigious Parisian department store “Galeries Lafayette“ where he also presented his one-of-a-kind “haute coiffure” collection during “Haute Couture” Paris Fashion Week.
Le Mindu’s new book “Haute Coiffure” is a celebration of his life’s work, with contributions from top fashion photographers, including Ellen Von Unwerth, Nick Knight, Rankin and Tim Walker. It follows Le Mindu’s life journey from humble beginnings in rural France, to his days cutting hair for drag queens and ravers in techno clubs in Berlin, to his more recent work pioneering the fusion of coiffure and couture in art and fashion circles.
