Each year, the Miss America Awards typically receive the most buzz for two favorite elements: the bikini competition and the pageant hair and makeup.
Helping to create the buzz around this year’s pageant looks were Redken Artists Matthew Tyldesley and Ashley Flora who were backstage for 3 days working their styling magic on the ladies of the 2016 Miss America Competition.
Creating everything from soft waves and partial updos to braids and volume, they used Redken iron shape 11 finishing thermal spray, control addict 28 extra high hold hairspray, wind blown 05 dry finishing spray, shine flash 02 glistening spray and the NEW! triple take 32 extreme high-hold hairspray to create each girl’s final look for the preliminaries competition.
“In addition to working backstage, I was able to watch the preliminary shows and to see the contestants with their hair and makeup done was truly amazing,” said Redken Artist Matthew Tyldesley. “This experience has been truly humbling.”
