True Beauty on the Runway! Keune debuts at NYFW with Sophie Theallet

Ilham Mestour, International Artistic Director at Keune Haircosmetics, along with the Keune USA Artistic Team found a way to make natural texture in the hair a fall trend in NYFW 2015!

The Keune Team celebrated the brand’s first ever fashion show in this year’s NYFW with French Designer Sophie Theallet’s designs. Theallet’s very awaited collection was a complete sensation, highlighting the power that a natural woman can have both on the catwalk and in real life.

“In the dress rehearsal, we heard the music of the show and that inspired us to enhance the girls femininity with very strong, natural and individual looks,” said Mestour.

Senegalese drummers keeping the model’s feet on beat with the catwalk and the earth-toned fabrics draping in complex layers flew behind the models as tires leaned on the wall for a more rustic feel. A stunning rooftop runway was the setting for the more tribal show, which begged for similar energy in the hairstyles.

“We really like to get these models onstage with a really organic vision of powerful, individual and very sexy women,” said Mestour. “It is a lot about natural hair and this idea of true beauty about the individual model. When they step in we look at the natural fall of the hair and we use the spray wax, the new foundation that we are using to create definition in the hair. With this, we are not using any tools; no flat iron, no curling iron.”

“NY is the first fashion show but we have two more coming up in Paris, so as you can see we are getting there and trying to get more involved in the fashion world,” said Mestour. Fashion scene, look out, Keune is coming for you!
