To help colorists achieve the fresh new Sombre look, Redken has launched two new Mocha shades into Redken Chromatics. Inspired by hot chocolate, Chromatics Mocha 6M features warmer tones that perfectly complement golden skin tones and are best-suited for medium to lighter bases. Chromatics Mocha 4M provides rich, deep chocolate tones with a hint of red, and is ideal on dark and medium bases. SOMBRE STEP-BY-STEP
STEP 1: Sombre and Glaze Application
– Start in the back left nape section and take a ¼” diagonal back slice and place on a foil. Apply Sombre Formula 1 to Zone 1 and into Zone 2.
– Next, leaving 1” of natural hair, apply Sombre Formula 2 through remainder of Zones 2 and 3, leaving out the previously colored ends.
– Using the Redken Blur Brush, use vertical strokes to blur both formulas together. Drop down next ¼” slice and place on previous section and repeat application. Cover last section with foil to secure. Repeat on opposite side. Complete all back sections in same manner of application.
STEP 2: Sombre and Glaze Application
– Start in the front left temple section and take a ¼” diagonal back slice and place on a foil. Apply Sombre Formula 1 to Zone 1 and into Zone 2.
– Next, leaving 1” of natural hair, apply Sombre Formula 2 through remainder of Zones 2 and 3, leaving out the previously colored ends.
– Using the Redken Blur Brush, use vertical strokes to blur both formulas together. Drop down next ¼” slice and place on previous section and repeat application. Complete section and cover with foil to secure. Complete opposite side and both front crown sections using the same manner of application.
– Process at room temperature for 35 minutes. Shampoo and Condition with Redken Color Extend Magnetics.
– For darker bases, use NEW 4M (4.8) Chromatics with NEW 6M (6.8) Chromatics as your Sombre Formula.
STEP 3: Sombre and Glaze Application
– Apply Glaze Formula using global application. Process at room temperature for 20 minutes. Shampoo and Condition with Redken Blonde Idol.
