More than 1,000 Students from Nuts and Bolts Member Schools in the USA, Canada and Australia determined to make a mark on the industry will be flocking to ISSE Long Beach 2015 this weekend to showcase their brilliance in two major competitions.
Most will be hoping their dedication and hard work in cosmetology will be honored at the International Business Student of the Year Awards, run by premier training program provider Nuts and Bolts. But an additional 10 who have successfully navigated the gruelling demands of the Annual Sassoon Academy School Connection Cut and Color Competition, partnered with Nuts and Bolts, will also hear if they have made the winning three.
Both awards, now in their seventh year, take place on Sunday, January 25 and celebrate students’ technical, creative and business excellence. IBSY judges will announce the top three students in each of the twin categories of Cosmetology and Esthetics, with the overall winners in each category walking away with a combined package of prizes totalling more than $40,000.
In the Sassoon Academy School Battle, the final 10 competitors, narrowed down from more than 100 entrants and flown to Long Beach for the awards, will be whittled down by the Sassoon Academy Creative Team to just three winners – 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The IBSY is open to the 1000-plus individual Students of the Month award winners from more than 70 Nuts and Bolts member schools. Qualification for the awards is based on individual performance, with each entrant also required to submit a short video of themselves explaining what they have learned and how they plan to use their Nuts and Bolts training to achieve their career goals. The videos give students the chance to show off their professionalism and creative flair in a format of their choosing, whether that’s a skit, a role-play, a musical performance or any other kind of presentation they like. SASC finalists have submitted before-and-after photos of their amazing technical skills along with short descriptions of the steps they took to achieve their model’s final look.
Jamie Yates, CEO of Nuts & Bolts Training, said: “Once again, the IBSY and SASC awards show how the dedication and hard work of Nuts and Bolts students are driving professional excellence in the world’s cosmetology industries. The standards are incredibly high and every year seems to raise the bar that little bit more. The competition is a true showcase of quality and I wish all the finalists the very best of luck.”
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday at 4PM at the Color & Styling Stage at ISSE Long Beach. It’s open to the public so anyone can attend event.
