Estetica was in attendance yesterday to ‘Salute The Runway’, the kickoff event for New York Fashion Week! Salute The Runway was held at The Pavilion at the Lincoln Center. Estetica joined Aveda, who was sponsoring the event, to celebrate United States Military Service Women.
Aveda designed the hair looks for 15 female veterans who are returning to the workforce and who walked the runway yesterday. Estetica joined Aveda backstage to get the inside scoop and we had the chance to speak to the team backstage. Hairstylist Britt Dion, from Dolce Lusso Salon in Charlotte, NC shared with us, “I feel honored to have the opportunity to get to work with these women, they do so much for us, it’s the least we can do… to make them feel beautiful and really give them some special attention today. So to be able to make them feel like the women that they are and empower them with glamorous looks is really exciting for us.”
With Aveda sponsoring the event, of course great products were being used backstage. Britt shared with us some of the different products the team was using: “Some key Aveda products we have been using is Control Force, the hairspray, is definitely the most important product ever for any hairstylist. It’s the best hairspray, it does everything, and holds everything for us. We are also using Naturally Straight, and the Dry Remedy Oil.”
The US Military Service Women looked amazing, trading in their uniforms for little black dresses by Nicole Miller, Tahari, Mara Hoffman, DKNY, and more Fashion Week designers. “We’re created individual looks for each woman, that best compliments them, and makes them feel the most beautiful. We asked each woman to recall a time where they felt the most beautiful, and what was it about that time that made them feel beautiful. We’re either tried to recreate that or do something they aren’t used to. We wanted individual looks for each woman, because they are individual woman, and we wanted them to be able to feel comfortable and like themselves but we just wanted to bring out the most beautiful version of themselves,” explained Dion.
The event was made possible by Little Black Dress Wines and Fatigues To Fabulous. More than 100 designers are scheduled to show their spring-summer 2015 collections in the Mercedes-Benz tents at Lincoln Center and other New York venues. We can’t wait to see what’s in store and share with our readers all the latest trends straight from the runway!
