It is with much heartfelt sadness that EsteticaNetwork announces the passing of another great name from the world of hairdressing. Renato Brunas, one of our finest educators and innovators has died, aged 82.
Throughout a career spanning more than a half-century, Renato Brunas’ impact upon and contribution to the world of hair color was unparalleled and extraordinary. His influence on the growth and development of the art of hair color was such that he not only literally colored thousands of heads including those of some of the world’s most prominent people, but has also presented workshops and symposia around the globe as well as working as a mentor and coach as part of his unfaltering commitment to hair education and training.
Renato began his career as a colourist in the 1950s, moving to London where he successfully opened his own salon in Mayfair. He perfected and improved on his craft when, in the 1960s, he spent two years away from the salon to study the chemistry of dyeing and hair color, becoming a color expert. He founded Renbow International and introduced Colorissimo into the market, a permanent hair color crème with self-stopping action.
Renato went on to found Oro Studio; it was a place where famous artists were invited to demonstrate their skills to other artists. He believed that knowledge by itself was not enough, that people needed to also be motivated and excited, so the presentations at Oro Studio were always as entertaining as they were educational.
During the latter part of his career, he proved himself as a highly talented and successful author, publishing his much-read autobiography, ‘Renato on Colour’.
His multi-faceted and fulfilling career took him to the four corners of the world and made him not only into a global presence, but also a much-loved and greatly admired master of our industry.
As we say farewell to a dear friend, our thoughts an prayers go out to Renato’s family at this time.
