ISBN to present Legend Award to L’Oréal’s Pat Parenty

The International Salon/Spa Business Network (ISBN) will present its 2014 Legend Award to Pat Parenty, president, L’Oréal USA Professional Products Division and SalonCentric.

The award ceremony will take place at ISBN Annual Conference, “The Business of Being Social,” May 4-6, at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. The ISBN Legend Award is presented by the owners, CEOs and senior executives of the top multi-unit salon and spa companies to industry partners who have made extraordinary contributions to the growth of the professional salon industry.

Past recipients have included Farouk Shami, CEO/founder of Farouk Systems; George Schaeffer, founder of OPI Products Inc. and now the CEO of Aloxxi; John Paul DeJoria, entrepreneur and co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems; hairdressing icon Vidal Sassoon and Redken Founder Paula Kent Meehan.

Pat Parenty’s commitment to the professional beauty industry and more importantly to the salon professional has always been evident and has played a big part in the success of both Redken 5th Avenue and L’Oréal,” said Phil Horvath, general manager/vice president, ULTA Salons and an ISBN past president. “His honesty and integrity have made him a great leader and business partner to all those who have had the good fortune to work with him. Our partnership with Pat over the past 15-plus years has been a key part of ULTA’s success!”

Parenty graduated with a B.A. in Business Management from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, in 1980. After graduation, he joined the Federated Department Store executive training program. In 1983, he joined the professional salon industry as a territory manager in the northeast for Lamaur, Inc. based in Minneapolis. Over the next several years, he held several positions with Lamaur in sales and marketing and assumed the vice president, Salon Division position in 1988.

Parenty joined L’Oréal’s Professional Products Division as vice president, sales for Redken in January 1997. He became vice president, general manager for Redken in 2000 and senior vice president, general manager in 2002. Under his leadership, Redken had double-digit sales and profit growth, as the company evolved its original DNA of innovative technology and strong education to create an inclusive culture that attracted salon stylists throughout the U.S. market.

In 2009, Pat moved into a his role as President U.S. Brands, L’Oréal Professional Products Division, overseeing the U.S. business for Redken, Pureology, Matrix, L’Oréal Professionnel, Mizani, Kérastase, Shu Uemura Art of Hair, L’Oréal Technique and Essie. In 2010, he was promoted to president, L’Oréal USA Professional Products Division and SalonCentric.
