This year, the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is recognizing Dwight Miller, a widely acclaimed World Master Hairdesigner and industry leader who has worked with Marinello-Comer, Lapin’s, Redken, Pivot Point, Vidal Sassoon, Zotos, Matrix, American Crew, John Frieda and others. For fifty years he has influenced industry changes in hair fashion and technique and continues to be an incredible inspiration.
Born, Johnstown, PA, USA, 24 January from ancestry of Amish on his father’s side and English & Scottish from his mom’s. Dwight Miller is a graduate of the Comer & Doran Beauty School in San Diego. His career commenced in Hollywood, California. Dwight has since worked throughout Europe, Asia, New Zealand, South America, Scandinavia, Yugoslavia, Greece, South Africa, Australia, Canada and Great Britain.
Dwight has judged hairdressing competitions from NAHA to the Norwegian Master and Australian National Championships. Dwight has appeared at the world’s largest beauty & trade show’s from the Int’l Beauty Show in NYC to the World Congress & Alternative in London, from Italy’s Cosmoprof to the World & European Championships, as well as his numerous appearances for salons, schools, distributors, universities, trade & fashion magazines, radio, television throughout the world.
For fifty years, Dwight has been at the root of every major change in hair fashion & technique, from the Sculpture Pin Curl of Marinello‐Comer in Hollywood, to Sassoon’s strongest period of cutting in London. Systems produced by Dwight like Pivot Point’s Sculptic Cutting Program (’75) are the basis for training students around the world. Dwight was instrumental in refining Pivot Point’s original systems in the late 60s. As the Author of the cutting system in the Milady Standard II (’97), Master Cutting System (’00), his influence will be felt long into the future.
