Introducing ‘Shinobi’, a fusion of the 1980’s rockabilly movement, Japanese Ninja culture and the intricate art of the Japanese sword.
The “Stray Cats” and their iconic style of the 80s heavily influenced the presence of the pompadour in Hidetoshi Shimakawa‘s collection. He took this element of style and merged it with the “Japanese Sky High” pompadour look which was an under current movement within Japanese culture of this time.
He was also inspired by the high level ninja, expertly trained in the art of stealth – “Walker of Shadows” or “Warrior of the Night”; these ninja were considered to be very powerful in both body and spirit. He interpreted this in his styling with a western twist giving it a classic “rock military” feel! ‘Shinobi’ expresses Hidetoshi’s desire to reflect the sharpness of a Japanese sword, strength of the Ninja, and the uniqueness of rockabilly hair styling.
