Janell Geason, Aveda Artistic Director for Make Up, created brand new looks on the Aveda Congress 2013 stage inspired by shades from Aveda’s limited-edition makeup collections for spring, autumn and holiday.
The leading trend that most women will find becoming was a bejeweled smoky eye, created with the rich plums and sparkling greys in the Himalayan Holiday palette, perfect for warming up winter eyes.
“The holidays are the perfect time to take your everyday makeup look a bit over the top,” said Geason. “Many of our guests make appointments to have their makeup done for holiday parties and events, and this bold eye and lip combination is perfect for a night out.”
And the bling was not lacking, as Geason’s models were dripping with crystals as they walked the runway, to further illuminate the subtle, warmth of the jewel hues. “Women love jewels,” said Geason. “Adding crystals is an easy way to add a hint of glam and fantasy to any holiday look.”
HOW TO GET THE LOOK
Step 1: Prep the skin with Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme to increase radiance.
Step 2: Apply skin-matching shades of Inner Light™ Mineral Tinted Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 15, Inner Light™ Concealer and Inner Light™ Mineral Loose Powder for a flawless complexion.
PRO MAKEUP TIP: Apply concealer with the Flax Sticks™ Special Effects Eye Contour Brush for an airbrushed finish.
Step 3: Prep the lids. Apply Snowcap* to the inner corners of the eyes and along the bottom lash line.
Step 4: Apply Plum Twilight* in the center of the lid from lash line to crease and in the center of the bottom lash line.
Step 5: Apply Nepali Night* in the crease and to the outer edge of the lid.
Step 6: Dampen a disposable eye shadow applicator with Color Options™ Eye Shadow Transformer. Dip the applicator into Nepali Night*, and apply along the lash line to just past the crease for a liquid liner effect.
Step 7: Highlight the area just under the brow with Gilded Sun*.
Step 8: Apply two coats of Mosscara™ in Black Forest to the top and bottom lashes.
Step 9: Apply Snow Lotus* to the apples of the cheeks.
Step 10: Line and lightly fill in the lips with Nourish-Mint™ Lip Liner in Plum Petals. Apply Nourish-Mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Winterberry over the liner. Finish the look by lightly applying Nourish-Mint™ Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Himalayan Snow* to the center of the lips.
