Goldwell – KMS California To Open New NYC Academy

Set to open in the Spring 2014 in the trendy Meatpacking District, the East Coast Goldwell-KMS California flagship academy to second their successful Santa Monica location.

President and General Manager of KAO USA Salon, Trevor Attenborough, announced the new Goldwell KMS California Academy to open next spring in the heart of New York’s fashionable Meatpacking District at 22 Little West 12th Street. The academy is expected to stretch out over 6500 square feet to serve as a sister school to the Goldwell KMS California Academy’s original Santa Monica location.
 
The multi-story creative space will feature a stunning rooftop classroom with terrace views of New York City’s world famous skyline, which should be sufficient to inspire any students  to create bold, original work. Attenborough explains, “Whether drawing from the rich cultural heritage or striking architecture of this world class city, we hope that our guests will be inspired to take their craft to the next level.”
 
Global Color Master John Simpson will be heading up the educational team at the New York Academy, accompanying students on guided field trips to explore the city’s arts, culture and streets, even the nightlife, to gain first-hand inspiration and the principles of art and design sure to spur them into creating unique fashion-forward styles.

Editorial fashion styling will be covered in the “On Set” program, an essential workshop  current trends led by Global Artistic Master Dimitrios Tsioumas. Who better to introduce attendees to the method behind the madness of editorial shoots and trendsetting fashion concepts?

Then students attending the “KMS 2014 Campaign Sessions” class will have backstage access at the KMS California Campaign photo shoot comes to life. The course will include an advanced study of creative cutting and editorial styling, the techniques used to create the looks, and insight into the inner-workings of the brand and this year’s concept.
