Pivot Point International pledges to raise funds for “Hope is in Style” to benefit diabetes research and treatment
When this year’s Honoree of the City of Hope’s Spirit of Life® Award, Reuben Carranza, CEO of Wella, the Salon Professional Division of P&G, North America, in recognition of his outstanding professional and philanthropic activities, he decided to direct funds raised during his campaign to City of Hope’s cutting-edge research in diabetes.
Growing up with a mother and aunt who were both hairdressers may have prepared him for his future career, but seeing the impact that diabetes had on these to love ones also inspired him to make a difference for the countless individuals suffering from this disease. Robert Passage, Chairman and CEO of Pivot Point International, announced that Pivot Point is committed to raising funds for Carranza’s “Hope is in Style” campaign.
“One in 12 Americans have diabetes and it’s rampant in the beauty industry. Imagine how much we can help our own industry if every beauty school student and school owner gave just one dollar between now and the National Diabetes Month in November; we can reach our goal of $100,000 easily,“ Passage explained.
So Pivot Point is challenging schools, salons and students to get involved in raising funds by donating just one dollar to the fight against diabetes. It is also expected that many salons and spas will be holding special events in their salons and spas. And to make this campaign even more effective, school and salon owners can register their businesses and receive materials from Pivot Point by visiting the company’s Hope is in Style page.
“We believe it is crucial for future and current salon professionals to learn about the causes and effects of diabetes and the importance of a healthy lifestyle in avoiding the disease,” adds Passage. “We will increase our educational efforts about the disease as well as raise funds throughout the country.”
Donations are also accepted directly via Pivot Point’s Crowd Rise or directly to City of Hope (please indicate you are part of Pivot Point Believes Hope is Style).
