Scott Buchanan to serve as Chairman and Reuben Carranza as Vice Chair
The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) has announced two new and prestigious appointments to its Board of Directors for the 2013/2014 term, which began September 1, 2013. These highly respected beauty professionals offer to volunteer their time to advance the PBA and the industry at large.
The new Chairman of the PBA Board of Directors will be Scott Buchanan, owner of the Scott J Salons & Spas. This is the second time a salon owner has been elected as Chairman PBA Board.
“I am honored and grateful to be able to serve with so many distinguished industry leaders who volunteer their time for the betterment of our industry. I look forward to continuing to build on the extraordinary services and benefits PBA provides to our industry and all those who work in it,” stated Buchanan.
Buchanan’s new Vice Chair will be Reuben Carranza, North American Leader and CEO of Wella, The Salon Professional Division of Proctor & Gamble. Carranza is a well-known figure in the professional beauty industry, having won this year’s City of Hope Spirit of Life Award and rolled out his “Hope is in Style” campaign against diabetes.
Other new members to the Board are Kevin Barrett (Fromm International) and Cynthia Heisser (Ultimate Beauty Companies). They will join current Board members Mark Goodman (The Hair-Designers), Beth Hickey (Spa Specialties Representatives), Marilyn Ihloff (Ihloff Salon and Day Spa), Harlan Kirschner (Kirschner Group), Edwin Neill III (Neill Corp), Graciela Santiler Nowik (Hair Base Salon & Spa), Renee Shakour (Interiors by RG Shakour) and Oliver Steinnagel (Oliver’s Hair Salon).
The PBA would like to thank its outgoing Chairman Max Wexler (Beauty Craft) and Board member Brian Graham (GF Management), as well as the industry volunteers leaving its Advisory Councils (formerly Leadership Councils).
