Aveda’s Allen Ruiz takes home yet another prestigious Hairstylist of the Year Award
Hairstylists worldwide, but especially in the United States and Canada, mark this event on their calendar’s almost as if it were Christmas! In fact, the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), a Professional Beauty Association (PBA) event, is one of the most prestigious photographic hairstyling and beauty competition in North America. An on July 14, 2013, the long-awaited list of the hairdressers who took home a colorful NAHA 2013 trophy was announced during a star-studded ceremony held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with more than 3,000 beauty professionals present and tens of thousands more keeping track from across the world as they watched the live streaming broadcast on modernsalon.com
NAHA’s top honor, Hairstylist of the Year, was presented to Allen Ruiz, from the Jackson Ruiz Salon in Austin, Texas. Ruiz was up against very tough competition, like Sal Misseri’s androgynous collection featuring cuts and color, James Abu-Ulba’s bold avant-garde looks, Alina Friesen’s graphic contrasts, and Charlie Price’s mystical other-worldly women. Allen’s collection was distinguished by retro yet contemporary looks, demonstrating his versatility in interpreting new classics.
The talented Ruiz is now one of the only three hairstylists to have received this honor more than once. Congratulations!
