Cosmetologists Chicago (CC)recently came to the aid of five salon owners dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the storm that ravaged the East Coast.
CC – known for their generosity when it comes to helping out salon owners and professionals in need – held a holiday event in December 2013, featuring Fabio Sementilli and his Wella Professionals team of young I.C.A.N. Talents. Not suprisingly , the even reaped proceeds for the Cosmetologists Chicago Hurricane Assistance Fund. Having amassed more than $8,000, CC began searching for those who needed help the most.
CC Adjunct Director Frank Fulco of CosmoProf backed up CC in identifying five salons still in need of aid. Recently, CC President Joseph Cartagena visited Tony Fanelli’s salon in Brooklyn, NY to present him with a check for $1600. Tony plans to share some of that donation with his staff members who are still dealing with personal losses from the storm.
Cosmetologists Chicago has a long history of helping salon pros:
– When Hurricane Katrina hit, CC was there with a donation of $40,000 to help salons rebuild.
– When a USA Team needed funding to compete in Korea, CC was there to sponsor them.
– From 1998 to 2006, CC partnered with Wella to host The Alternative Hair Show at America’s Beauty Show. Collectively these mega-fashion & beauty events raised $2,000,000 that helped fund research into causes and cures for Leukemia both in the U.S. and the U.K.
Not only does CC give back to those in need both nationally and globally, they also know that charity begins at home, in the form of the Presidents Scholarships; annually providing salon pros with funds (up to $7500 over a career lifetime) to continue their professional education anywhere in the world.
If you are a member of Cosmetologists Chicago, be proud of your professional association and your participation in it. Together we help each other as well as those in need.
