HairIST enchanted crowds to Istanbul for a weekend of Turkish and international hairdressing.
The third edition of HairIst, the leading hairdressing event in the country organised by Estetica Turkey, welcomed more than 1,100 participants, who arrived also tahnks to the support of leading brand names and associations that would never have missed this incredible gathering in such a wonderful city.
HairIST 2013, which took place last weekend in Instabul, brought more than five of the greatest names in Turkish hairdressing to the stage, all to interpret a single main them: Love. The public, which arrived from Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, Holland, Greece, Romania, the Czech Republic and Turkey, was absolutely captivated.
The opening show, by Vassago Hairdesigners, transported the audience to France, in the heyday of the XVIII century, the true cradle of hairdressing. Men and women with Baroque coifs kept time with Viennese waltzes, bringing the costumes and glorious social life of that epoch back to life.
Gülay Turan, the only woman among the five stars of this celebration, had prepared a show entitled ‘Rock&Love’, offering a modern interpretation of a them of rock chic.
One of the shows that most successfully captured the public’s eye was that of Adnan Serter and Salih Pehliyan. Focusing on their love for Istanbul, their exhibition was distinguished by the participation of a singer and a group performing traditional music, together with a rapper performing his own composition entitled Poetas de las tijeras to pay homage to the the hairstylists on the stage.
The Pivot Point Turkey team presented the latest cutting techniques developed by this brand name. Accompanied by Sinan Ergün, the winner of HairIST 2012 in the cutting category, Jolly Ten Koppel and Joakim Ross demonstrated the different nuances on the model.
But the most exciting was the grand finale: presenting a true work of art, Hakan Köse and his team, which included Cemil Irez and Nedim Dogulu, literally enraptured everyone. They also presented new cutting techniques.
Onur Varlı won the “HairIST 2013 Hairdresser of the Year” award, while Ayhan Onluer and Ugur Parlak took home second and third place respectively.
Moreover, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of Estetica Turkey, Metin Bahcecik, the famous Turkish stylists selected by the readers of Estetica Turchia, was recognised for his brilliant career: “I didn’t do anything special. I was just doing my job,” declared Bahcecik durante la consegna del premio, “Thank you for this honor.”
The event also a pinch of something Spanish: under the title of KUAFÖRLÜĞÜN İHTİSAMI – Legendary hairdresser, Raffel Pages triumphed with his photographic presentation of his most significant and suprising works from the private collection at the Hairdressing Museum.
