The Spanish stylist and owner of the Cubic Estilistas salon in Majorca, takes home the grand prize of this prestigious competition during the gala evening in Los Angeles.
The Sunset Tower Hotel in Hollywood was the perfect venue for the gala organised for the presentation of the American Crew Face Off, during which Spanish hairdresser Pedro José Muñoz was declared the grand prize winner of the 2013 edition. His photographs, taken during an exclusive photo shoot at Milk Studios in Los Angeles, in which all six finalists participated, convinced the jury that he should take home the award.
“I feel like this is a dream come true,” said an excited Pedro. “I will never forget this experience that, thanks to American Crew, brought me here to Los Angeles to Face Off with my professional colleagues from all over the world. I have always dreamt of a moment like this since I was a child, but the reality of it has totally exceeded all my expectations!”
The six finalists of the 2013 edition of the competition were:
– Dean Tsopanis (Salon Biba, Australia)
– Katrina Saxton (Getfunkd, New Zealand)
– Loretta Tom (Salon Markus J Hair, Canada)
– Miguel Gutierrez (Salon Melogy, UK)
– Patrick Chai (Floyd’s Barbershop, USA)
– Pedro José Muñoz (Cubic Estilistas, Spain)
The jury certainly found it difficult to choose from among the excellent presentations of all these artists, all of whom skillfully interpreted the American Crew mood for men’s hair fashion, combining classic flair with a modern vision. Presided over by Craig Hanson, International Creative Director of American Crew, the jury also consisted of Sandra Nygaard, editor of Men’s Health North America, fashion stylist Taylor Jacobson, photographer David Roemer, and Sergi Bancells, Director of Estetica Modacabello Spagna and America Latina magazine, as well as Secretary General of the Association Internationale Presse Professionnelle Coiffure (AIPP).
