Over 1300 Intercoiffure  top stylists, businesses, and avant-garde fashion from over 56 countries the world over flocked to the 21st Intercoiffure World Congress.

Planned as an itinerant event, the 21st Intercoiffure World Congress took place in a series of prestigious and enticing venues, like the  Auditorium della Conciliazione along the avenue leading to St. Peter’s, Villa Miani, Officine Farneto and, last but not least, the world famous Cinecittà Studios.

Commissioned by Intercoiffure Mondial and organized in joint collaboration with Complementi di Business (CdB), this high-profile event also benefitted from the expertise of international event organisers, Jumbo Grandi Eventi and K-event. L’Oréal Professionnel and Wella Professionals, two beauty and hair sector colossals, were also worldwide sponsors of the 21st Intercoiffure World Congress, having set up gorgeous lounges at the Auditorium della Conciliazione to welcome participants. Even the Region of Lazio, Province of Rome, and City of Rome supported the project whole-heartedly.

The agenda was initially dedicated to association issues, culminating with the re-election of Klaus Peter Ochs as president and renewal of the 9-member Council. But once these domestic affairs had been sorted out, time was dedicated to the celebration of world hair fashion with 16 show teams coming from Europe, North and South America, Asia and the Nordic countries, ready to prove the extent of their skills all along the PRESTIGE and GALA shows: the “Fondation Guillaume”, ICD Italy (2 shows), ICD Taiwan, ICD Germany, ICD Chile, ICD Austria, ICD Nordic Region, ICD Switzerland, ICD Bulgaria, ICD America-Canada, ICD Japan, Alexandre de Paris, ICD China, ICD Brazil and kpO.

The scenographic and entertainment aspects of this virtual “globetrotting” – some of which were authentic theatrical performances –  kept the audience enraptured, also thanks to the growing contribution of videos. Particularly worthy of mention was the  ICD Italia show, produced, like the show, in partnership with Kemon Italia – and inspired by the icons of cinema with a spectacular collage of Italian films from decades past.
The constant investments made in young hairdressers with the intense activity of the Guillaume Foundation also manifested incredible ROI in their fantastic show with more than 40 young stylists on stage.

EsteticaNetwork, like all media-partners, collaborated actively with an intense and constant tweeting and real-time commentary on web and related social networks, while the video produced by Estetica and dedicated to Vidal Sassoon as an icon of international hairdressing and of ICD itself met with warm acclaim.

This year’s Intercoiffure honor roll included the Grand Cross, awarded to Eizo Kakimoto, the Award of Excellence going to Waleska and Francisco DosSantos, outstanding Latin America hairdresser Jacques Goosens as Personnalité de l’Amerique-Latine de la Décenne , while Mitsumasa Taniguchi took home the Life Achievement Award. Roberto Pissimiglia and Frini Latou were also presented the Press Awards for Estetica Network. ICD Mondial honours culminated in the magical evening of Tuesday, 12 June where, amidst the setting of the historic Cinecittà studios, L’Oréal personalities were awarded, with An Verhulst accompanied by Pascal Frantz, Vianney Pivet, Betrand Fontaine, and Giampiero Chiusano. Wella/P&G Salon Professional also took the stage: president Adil Mehoob Khan was flanked by Ralf Billharz, Rueben Carranza, Michelle Mason, and Kevin Otero on stage.

An of course, participants were able to fully enjoy the Eternal City and some of its splendid venues and monuments first, hand, thanks to the Cocktail & Welcome Party held at Villa Miani, the “Roma by Night” Cocktail Party at Officine Farneto, and a special Gala Night amidst the movie sets of Rome’s very own Cinecittà, not to mention shopping and museums.

Thanks to Intercoiffure and the Eternal City for these everlasting memories!
