The home of the Golden Globe Awards, the Beverly Hilton, was the sophisticated venue for the Paul Mitchell Schools 9th Annual FUNraising Gala
Brimming with glittering gown and – of course – elegant coifs, the FUNraising gala is the culmination of three months of efforts made by students and staff of the 100 cosmetology schools nationwide to raise money for charities through grassroots activities like cut-a-thons, hair shows, and car washes. And incredibly, these efforts have paid off over the years, brining in a total of 8.5 million dollars.
This star-studded even was hosted by Paul Mitchell Schools Dean and Cofounder Winn Claybaugh and singer/performer Marie Osmond (also representing Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals), with Paul Mitchell Co-owners John Paul DeJoria (Food 4 Africa). and Angus Mitchell lending a hand. Other VIPs present included Betty White (Morris Animal Foundation), Fran Drescher (Cancer Schmancer), comedian and motivational speaker Kathy Buckley (No Limits), actress Kristin Bauer (Best Friends Animal Society).
‘Not one celebrity was paid to be here,” said Claybaugh, “including Natasha Bedingfield.”The Grammy nominee performed at the Gala, courtesy of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “And, thanks to sponsors and ticket sales, the Gala itself was a FUNraiser, generating an additional $27,000 for the charities.”
“Chances are, none of our students will ever meet the people they’re helping globally, but they do it because they care, and because in their hearts they know they’re making the world a better place, and that’s the future of this planet,” John Paul DeJoria said. “All they asked in return was to help make the world a better place to live.”
