Leading ladies of country music opt for ton-sur-ton elegance: the belles of country music are often stereotyped as wholesome blondes, but they at the American Country Music Awards many opted for highly sophisticated glittery looks.
Many of our favorites were decked out in neutral palettes, some with subtle bling in gold, silver, or beaded highlights or over-the-top glittery glam. This red carpet event was the perfect showcase for the wide variety of blond looks available today, from cool platinum to warm honey tones and a wide variety of highlights and lowlights. Here are our favorites.
Carrie Underwood was own sweet self AND sexy in a strapless cream gown with an asymmetric cut that showed lots of leg. The asymmetry followed through with her hair in a cascade of loose curls over one shoulder. Simply illuminating.
Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry arrived in a blush-colored gown with simple yet rich beaded embroidery to lend just a little light and sparkle. Her make-up was natural looking, with just enough pink lipstick to offset her blue eyes. Warm blond lowlights with cooler highlights were the perfect combination, subtly complementing her wholesome natural good looks.
Another asymmetrical look was sported by Laura Bell Bundy, with a glittery full-length figure-skimming gown, off one shoulder but with halter style neckline that draped down into a diagonally cut elbow-length sleeve. The silvery gown was perfect for her platinum tresses gathered to the side to balance the cut of the dress.
The real golden girl of the evening was Miranda Lambert, looking as if she had been touched by King Midas himself. The liquid gold effect of her halter- necked gown hugged all her curves and shimmered to match her vibrantly shaded blond locks in long, soft curls that tumbled down her back and over her shoulder.
America’s country sweetheart Taylor Swift was looking less princess-y and all sophisticated and grown up in a minimalist white gown with side cutouts in the bodice and contoured metallic insets that perfectly highlighted her height and proportions. For the gala evening, Taylor smoothed her just-below-the-shoulder length, warm blond hair and brought back her bangs to accent her glamorous eyes and reflect the geometric simplicity of her overall look.
It looks like the fashion lesson here it that neutral palettes are back and a perfect match to enhance blond locks.
