Healthy Hair is the season’s most important trend for Textured Hair and the Solution begins with Aphogee!

Celebrity hairstylist Faatemah, owner of SuiteSpot Salonspa in Minneapolis, is always ahead of the curve, so we asked her to identify the three most important trends for textured hair for her multicultural clients this season.

Multicultural women understand the importance of protective hairstyles, especially with the increased awareness of self-care and healthy hair,” says Faatemah, who helps her clients embrace their natural texture by suggesting styling options that reduce ongoing manipulation of fragile locks while protecting their ends.

Here, she shares her predictions for three of the hottest looks for Fall/Winter: Buns, Braids and Bobs!

BUNSI’m loving what I call power buns right now,” says Faatemah. “They’re also called space buns or galaxy buns.” Think Princess Leia or the The Power Puff Girls (super-powered sisters from the animated television series). “They’re a beautifully protective style that would never have been appropriate in the workplace before – but is now.” It’s essential that hair looks shiny and healthy, and ApHogee Deep Moisture Shampoo, rich in essential fatty acids and humectants, does the trick. Be sure to condition with ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer with a blend of collagen amino acids, emollients, vitamin derivatives and herbal extracts.

BRAIDSI started my career in the ‘90s doing box braids, and I’m seeing a lot of the trends from 20 years ago resurfacing,” says Faatemah. “Right now, a lot of celebrities are wearing Senegalese twists, which aren’t technically braids because you’re only using two strands of hair, not three, but I’m including them in this category. They’re easy to take care of, which is probably why actress Gabrielle Union has been wearing them since she became a mom.” To prep the hair for styling, Faatemah uses a technique she calls pre-softening (cleansing and deep-conditioning the hair). “That gives me a tangle-free palette to work with.” Start with ApHogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair, which gently cleanses while repairing and protecting damaged areas and improving strength and elasticity. Follow up with a deep-penetrating conditioner like ApHogee Pro-Vitamin Leave-in Conditioner, which penetrates the cortex to detangle hair and seal the cuticle.

BOBSThere will always be a category of women who feel that they have to relax their hair, and that’s fine,” says Faatemah. “Maybe they work in a conservative profession or just want to be able to get out of the house in a hurry in the morning and know that it takes a lot more work to care for natural, frizzy hair.” The trend right now to emulate natural texture by blow-drying the hair and doing a flex-rod set. Kerry Washington favors the look, which has a slight bend on the ends. To add strength and softness in one step, try ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor.

While protective hairstyles address some of the issues associated with natural curl, keeping excessive dryness and breakage at bay, they’re only part of the picture. The other half of the equation is a hair care regimen designed to protect the structural integrity of the hair, and each and every ApHogee product is formulated with the appropriate ratios of proteins and amino acids, emollients and humectants to ensure beautiful, healthy hair.

ApHogee is available at Sally Beauty Supply stores nationwide and other beauty supply stores and fine salons. For more information, visit
