Hollywood glam is the new vintage trend for hair

Friday, 30 March 2012 10:55

The new trend is the oldest. In Hollywood there’s nostalgia for the evergreen style of artists like Sophia Loren or Brigitte Bardot.

Could it be that when the economy takes a turn for the worse, that we abandon ourselves to a nostalgia for simpler, low-tech times? When Hollywood created dreamily romantic stars of the silver screen, cultivating the American dream worldwide, and even giving rise to the first signs of globalisation with some European “exchanges”, like Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot. Evening television series like Mad Men and Pan Am would seem to be confirmed by trend in the hair fashion industry as well, with editorial collections and red carpet coifs following suit.
Our first example: Brigitte Bardot

Brigitte Bardot

One of the few European actresses to have nabbed media attention in the United States with her sensual yet innocent dishevelled bouffant (of course! She is French after all). Layers helped give her a slightly Bohemien look.
Hairdreams extensions are perfect for improvising such a lush look, adding both length and volume for tousled locks.
Several starlets are confirming this trend on the red carpet, including the star of the much talked-about “The Hunger Games”, Jennifer Lawrence. For premier appearances, hairstylist David Babaii created a high flirty ponytail, lifting the top area gently from the ponytail to create a Brigitte Bardot bump for some height. For another occasion, David created a half up/half down BB coif, curling the ends with a large barrel curling iron to create a loose wave look.
Debbie Ryan, popular Disney star of “The Suite Life on Deck”, “16 Wishes” and her own series entitled “Jessie”. We love her rich auburn hue, with less texture and great shine. Brit leading lady Edith Bowman carries off this look effortlessly as well, with a texture and color that more closely evokes the original, while fresh-faced teen heartthrob Halston Sage lends a Lolita twist as early Bardot pics did at the time.
