Oscar-Worthy Haircolor Formulas by Joico Celebrity Colorist Denis de Souza

Monday, 23 February 2015 22:15

It’s Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, and naturally, every celebrity glam squad pulls out all the stops. The gowns, the jewels, the lips, the eyes and of course, the haircolor, must all be perfection for the Oscars red carpet, and the fabulous after parties of course!

The event makes for ideal trend-spotting for the color designs that salon clients will request for months to come, and inspiration for their hairstylists. Joico Celebrity Colorist Denis de Souza shares how-to recreate the hues of Felicity Jones and Laura Dern, two of the best haircolor looks of the night!

Felicity Jones’ Cool Espresso Brunette
Dark, cool and rich, this dark shade’s subtle dimension produces a sophisticated hue.

How to recreate this shade with Joico Vero K-PAK Color:
Natural level: 6
Base: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ N4 Coffee Bean + ½ A7 Dark Ash Blonde + Chrome Activator
Dimensional Lights: Joico Vero K-PAK Color 7A Dark Ash Blonde + 10 Volume Veroxide
Gloss: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ Clear + ½ A9 Light Ash Blonde + 2 oz Chrome Activator
Apply the base and dimensional lights formulas simultaneously. Process, remove and gloss all strands for shine and a cool finish.

Laura Dern’s Bold Honey & Toffee Highlights
These natural looking, color-balanced highlights are youthful and lively – a seamless complement to her dark blonde base.

How to recreate this shade with Joico Vero K-PAK Color:
Natural level: 5/6
Base: Joico Vero K-PAK Color ½ 7N Dark Blonde + ½ 7A Dark Ash Blonde + 20 Volume Veroxide
Balayage highlights: Joico Cream Lightener + 40 Volume Veroxide
Gloss: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ¾ Clear + ¼ B9 Champagne + 2 oz Chrome Activator
Apply the base shade to the regrowth. Apply freehand balayage highlights to the midlengths, ends and select face frame sections. Process, remove and gloss roots to ends.
