Get the Look! Joico’s Denis de Souza selects SAG Awards Haircolor Standouts!

It was all about the stars at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and they adorned the red carpet in high style. Joico Celebrity Colorist Denis de Souza had his eye on the haircolor, and he singles out four actresses for the best hues of the weekend!

Here are his choices and his how-tos for recreating the color with Joico Vero K-PAK Color!

FELICITY JONES’ MINKY BRUNETTE
This is really ramped up brown,” says Denis. “So rich and beautiful to contrast with her elegant powder pink Balenciaga.”

Recreate this shade with Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome:
Natural level: 6
Base: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ N4 + ½ A7 + Activator Crème Developer
Midlengths and ends:  Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ A7 + ½ Clear + Activator Developer

To keep the hue rich, and from fading, Denis says, Joico Color Endure Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for non-lightenened, deposit-only haircolor like this.

CAMILA ALVES’ AMBER LIGHTS
This ‘balayaombré’ technique combines lighter ends and handpainted, face-frame highlights,” says Denis. Wearing Donna Karen Atelier, the statuesque hourglass gown added even more “curve’ appeal to her beautifully colored waves.

Recreate this shade with Joico Vero K-PAK Color:
Natural level: 4-5
Base:  Joico Vero K-PAK Color ½ 5NA + ½ 6A + 20 Volume Veroxide
Highlights (concentrated on the midlengths and ends and face-frame area): Joico VeroLight Lightening Powder + 20 Volume Veroxide
Gloss:  Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome 1/3 B7 + 1/3 N8 + 1/3 Clear + Activator Crème Developer

Denis recommends Joico Color Balance Blue Shampoo and Conditioner available March 2015 for the best at home care. “It will keep these beautiful brunette tones just as they were intended to look right after your salon visit so they won’t go brassy or orange,” he exclaims.

KIERA KNIGHTLEY’S “BABY” LIGHTS
Chic and demure in a purple Erdem gown that looked like it was made of exquisite lace, “this is a perfect haircolor strategy for an expectant mom,” says Denis. “She has ammonia-free demi-permanent color at the base, close to the scalp, and lots of baby-fine, ‘babylight’ highlights throughout to brighten her overall color.”

Recreate this shade with Joico Vero K-PAK Color:
Natural level: 6
Base:  Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ N6 + ½ B6 + Activator Crème Developer
Highlights:  Joico Vero K-PAK Color HLA/High Lift Ash + 30 Volume Veroxide
Gloss: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ¾ Clear + ¼ V9 + Activator Crème Developer

K-PAK Color Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner is just right for Kiera’s “Babylights” lightened hair. K-PAK Color Therapy is specifically formulated for haircolor that has been “lifted” (lightened) so it will keep the hair healthy and the color shiny.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE’S CREAMPUFF BLONDE
Jennifer actually appeared on the Producer’s Guild Awards red carpet this weekend,” says Denis, “but her creamy, multi-dimensional blonde is worth singling out!” In a custom Prada gown with beaded straps and plunging neck line and revealing back, her neck was elongated beautifully by the hairstyle as well.

  • Recreate this shade with Joico Vero K-PAK Color:
  • Natural level: 6-7
  • Base:  Joico Base Breaker + 20 Volume Veroxide
  • Highlights: Joico Vero K-PAK Color HLN/High Lift Neutral + 30 Volume Veroxide
  • Gloss: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ¾ Clear + ¼ G8 + Activator Crème Developer

To keep that perfect blonde tone, J-Law can use Joico’s Color Balance Purple, also coming March 2015. It’s specifically formulated to keep brassiness or unwanted yellow tones from diminishing that gorgeous blonde. And to make sure she’s showing off that haircolor on the red carpet or anywhere for that matter, Denis recommends using K-PAK Color Therapy Dry Oil Spray, which creates a protective shield against color-fade and moisture-loss – “hair that is shiny and healthy really shows haircolor at its best!
