How To: Joico's Denis De Souza creates Hue Perfection for Jenna Dewan-Tatum

When he’s not creating trendsetting color effects like Brazilian “Sombré” –a soft, sun-kissed version of ombré inspired by his youth spent on the beaches of Rio De Janeiro– Joico Celebrity Colorist Denis de Souza is busy tending to the color needs of a full slate of Hollywood’s prettiest celebrities.

Recently, he transformed Jenna Dewan-Tatum, the sultry brunette actress with the good fortune to share a life with Channing Tatum. Here’s how Denis created the gorgeous, dark and modern haircolor, which contrasted beautifully with her buttery-yellow colored Carolina Herrera dress that she wore to the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, escorted by husband Channing Tatum looking classically handsome in Dolce & Gabana.

"Most brunettes are passionate about two things," declares DeSouza. They want absolutely no hint of redness or warmth, and they covet as much shine as possible. “That’s why I use Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome Demi-Permanent Color on many of my brunette clients,” he notes. “The shade range gives me options for cancelling unwanted warmth. De Souza turned to several of his favorite warmth-cancelling shades for Jenna. He combined Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ A5/Medium Ash Brown + ½ N4 Coffee Bean with developer and applied the formula to the regrowth area. He lowlighted with Joico Vero-K-PAK Chrome A5, then glossed the entire head with a formula of Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ Clear + ½ A9/Light Ash Blonde to repel warmth and amplify shine.
