Get the Look: Hair Expert Bangstyle Breaks Down the Faux Undercut

Saturday, 20 December 2014 23:20

Online hair community Bangstyle breaks down the latest celebrity hair trend – the faux undercut. A look that's recently resurfaced with a vengeance, the faux undercut fakes the appearance of shaved sides with clever braiding for a bold style. A-listers like Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Rita Ortega and Kristen Stewart have embraced the look.

Award-winning editorial stylist Errol Douglas MBE explains, "An undercut is such a bold style statement and recreating a similar vibe with intricate braiding not only preserves versatility but mixes the statement with a real femininity."

Get the Look!

To get the look, create a straight, hard part line with a tail comb to separate the braided hair section. Next, start braiding close to the temple, pulling tight for a rigid look. Use a small rubber band to tie off the end of the braid and pin behind hair, letting it flow over the end of the braid. Feeling adventurous? Create two or three braids for a real statement!
