Grammy nominated Singer and Rapper Lizzo, for Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best R&B Performance, and Best Traditional R&B Performance – left her mark on the red carpet and on stage with her awesome hair.

Lizzo amazed the Grammy's audience with not one, two, or three, but four hair changes by Celebrity Hairstylist Shelby Swain – The Beyonce of BabyHair for Matrix Total Results!

Get The Look Breakdown for her Red Carpet Style!

1. To ensure Lizzo hair is picture perfect I began by cleansing and conditioning the hair using Matrix Total Results Dark Envy Shampoo and Matrix Total Results Dark Envy Conditioner. I love the Matrix Total Results Dark Envy Shampoo and Matrix Total Results Dark Envy Conditioner collection, because they perfectly tone and remove any brassiness from the hair so that each snap of the camera is radiant and true to tone.

2. For a big day like today, to alleviate any stress on the hair I reinforced the conditioner with Dark Envy Color Obsessed Mask to soften the hair, neutralize red tone and maintain it for the other looks of the day.

3. Once hair was cleansed and conditioned we began styling. The first look of the day was the Elegant Vintage wave, which I used the Matrix Total Results Curl Please Contouring Lotion on damp hair and then blow dried hair to create volume.

4. Then, I curled and finished the hair using Matrix Total Results High Amplify Proforma Hairspray and Matrix Total Results High Amplify Flexible Hold Hairspray to help build volume and lock in the style, but still provide the hair with natural movement. Lizzo glimmered on the red carpet and I owe that to great products!

  • The New Matrix Focuses On Inclusion 29 January 2020

Everyone loves rainbows, and now Martix is renewing its commitment to being the most inclusive haircare and haircolor brand in the industry with its 2021 rebranding campaign.

More than four decades ago, Arnie Miller and his wife Sydell, founded Matrix based on the values of synergy and togetherness. And over the same period of time, Matrix has always been proud to welcome hairstylists of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience into a supportive community where they are given the tools they need to succeed. This outlook included investments in innovations and education to help every stylist fully realize their true creative and professional potential. Now Shane Wolf, the Worldwide President, Professional Products Division US Brands, is announcing a renewed commitment to those same values,"Today, the brand is proud to reveal a reinvented Matrix, guided by those principles, yet reimagined and modernized," he explains.

How? Through the Hair Diversity Matrix. This is essentially a scorecard system created in collaboration with internal labs and the education community to ensure that all Matrix products and education materials are developed with a view to meeting the needs of every hair type. The result is that the dimensions of this scorecard system include all levels, from dark to light, all underlying pigments, from warm to pale, all diameters, from fine to course and all patterns, from straight to curly. The brand will also introduce new product innovation with disruptive technology, including a re-stage of its cult favorite SoColor and Color Sync lines, with 120+ and 90+ new shades respectively, plus a bold re-packaging design.

By empowering stylists to meet the needs of every client with total confidence in products and techniques, as well as staying the original course of values and vision, Carrington Cole, Matrix US SVP, shares, “Matrix will continue to inspire stylists with the confidence to reach for their dreams.”

So everything is coming up rainbows, as Matrix’s network of Artists continues to support stylists at every stage of their wonderful journey, resulting in the most inclusive education community led by brand VP, Global Education, Alfredo Lewis and a portfolio of diverse experts.
