Get the Look: Trending Tendrils!

Friday, 07 December 2018 09:55

A fad from the 1990s that consists of leaving strands of hair free to frame the face. The Tendrils Trend is all the rage!

“Tendrils” technically is a botanical term to describe the stringy, curly protuberances typical of vines. In “beauty” lingo the Tendrils Trends is a new fashion to define a trend that is running rampant this autumn/winter.

Meghan Markle
She is the main “culprit” of the Tendrils Trend. With her Chignon + tendrils combo, Meghan Markle set a trend imitated by millions of women who want a classy hair look without going overboard into formal perfection. Because the little strand that escape from an updo like this changes the face, giving an artistically messy look without a sense of being unkempt.

Kendall Jenner
During the last week of Milan Fashion Week, Kendall Jenner gave a new interpretation of the Tendrils Trend: on the Fendi runway her updo with a high chignon and tendrils with a “casual” air redefined a fashion that was very popular in the 1990s. The 2.0 version of these days is much more glamorous. The evident messiness magically becomes… nonchalance.
A “straighter” version of this Tendrils trend had already been presented by Kendall last spring at the Cannes film festival. In this case the “vines” are much more defined and sculpted into a wave.

Nicole Kidman
Even Nicole Kidman could not resist the temptation of the Tendrils Trend. Perfect in any situation, the Australian star showed up at a London organised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with an updo but with a riot of free-flowing Tendrils. Almost a Renaissance Madonna.

Gigi Hadid
Milan Fashion Week certainly contributed to the explosion of the Tendrils Trend. And this high chignon up on Gigi Hadid is nothing more than a copy/paste of the hairstyle sported on the Fendi catwalk with Kendall Jenner.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
The British supermodel is another iconic face of the Tendrils Trend. Her personal version has a double “cascade”: the first is the tendril of the centre part, the other “vines” fall freely ear level, for a perfect frame.
