2012 NAHA Winners Announced

This was the 23rd year of the NAHA Awards Ceremony, yet it seemed as fresh and exciting as ever, thanks to  five artistic presentations.

NAHA 2011 Hairstylist of the Year Eli Mancha, artists from the Proctor & Gamble Salon Professional Brands, Cloud Nine Hair USA and Aveda dominated the stage to entertain the crowds. It also seemed fitting to include a tribute to Vidal Sassoon, whose death this year truly marked the passing of an era in the history of hairstyling.

On July 22, during a gala ceremony at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, more than 3000 beauty professionals gathered together, with more than 35,000 viewers worldwide who tuned in to watch the live streaming broadcast on hairdesignertv.com, to enjoy the suspense and the thrill of victory. NAHA’s Top honor, Hairstylist of the Year, was deservedly presented to Dimitrios Tsioumas, from the Mizu New York Salon in New York, NY, who also nabbed the 2012 Contemporary Classic category.

Lovely and popular journalist and host of E! Network’s E! News and Fashion Police and special host for this edition of the 2012 NAHA Awards Ceremony, Giuliana Rancic, was also honored with the PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award for her dedication to a wide variety of charitable organizations, including Bright Pink, Operation Smile, Dress for Success, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago and the Children’s Miracle Networks.

The value of such an award is also enhanced in consideration of the caliber of the international roster of VIPs NAHA calls in for the jury. It would be difficult to find judges more qualified than Vivienne Mackinder, five-time NAHA award winner, founder of HairDesignerTV.com, and editor-in-chief of MOD magazine;Tabatha Coffey, author, stylist and host of Bravo’s Tabatha’s Salon Takeover; Nicholas French, renowned UK stylist, author, and speaker; and Damien Carney, prominent beauty industry educator, founder of hairstyling academy Damien Carney London.

Innovations planned for next year include a “Men’s Hairstylist of the Year” and the opportunity for applicants for “Make-up Artist of the Year”  to submit their own entries without being nominated by a hairstylist.

Great ideas! The only way NAHA could be better is if there were more of it!
