Wella Professionals’ offer scholarships for Black Salon Pros

What better time than Black History Month to foster the careers of salon professionals of color through scholarships? Wella Professionals announces a contest to promote the extraordinary talent found among Black licensed salon professionals.

In the hairdressing universe, some ethnicities have always presented challenges in all aspects of the trade: cutting, coloring, styling… even in curling and straightening. However, over recent years more and more attention has been focused on developing specific products for both amping up and taming textures, all to meet the needs of hairdressers and their clients.

Now Wella Professionals, always a beacon in education for hairdressers, is now intent on celebrating Black History Month by placing the spotlight on Black salon pros for the entire month of February!

How? In addition to sharing content geared towards texture education and advancement of Black hairstylists, Wella is hosting a scholarship contest open to Black licensed salon professionals. A total of five winners will receive a scholarship to the Wella Professionals education course of their choice.

Recent events have highlighted the rampant social, cultural and economic disparities in resources and opportunities that have historically put POC stylists at a disadvantage in the beauty industry as well.

So in keeping with the times we are living, Wella Professionals will fund scholarships for its Color Craft series or Cut Craft course, in an extraordinary program to support artist education.

Completion of the Color Craft series will fast-track stylists to Wella Professionals’ Master Color Expert (MCE) program. Instead, for stylists who may prefer cut over color, winning hairdressers can opt for Stephen Moody's Virtual Cut Craft course.

To enter yourself or nominate someone (by February 28):

· Follow @WellaHairUSA
· Post a picture or video relevant to you or your nominee
· Use #WellaBlackStylistScholarship in your caption
· Tag and mention @WellaHairUSA and your nominee (can be you, your hairstylist or a colleague) in your image and caption

Be sure to share this opportunity with any talented Black hairstylists you might know who are seeking to advance their careers and education!

See here for more details about the contest.
