Paul Mitchell revamps ‘Style Trip’ as Series of Short Documentary Films that Discover Local Communities in Search of Inspiration for Hair

The JPMS™ Artistic Team visits Fort Collins, Colorado, finding inspiration for hair color from craft beer and for a pampering salon experience from the great outdoors.

Launched early this year, the webisode series Style Trip is back with a new narrative-driven approach to telling stories of craft, inspiration, and the art of hair dressing, as the JPMS™ Artistic Team visits salons and communities around the country.

In collaboration with the multimedia storytellers at Media Stone Creative, JPMS™ has revamped Style Trip as a series of short documentaries (approx. 15 minutes) that go inside top salons to discover local brands, artists, and communities. For each webisode, series host and JPMS™ Artistic Director of Color Colin Caruso works with local stylists to explore their community in search of inspiration for hair. Debuting today, the fourth webisode in the series visits Studio Be Salon in Fort Collins, Colorado, finding inspiration from New Belgium Brewery and Horsetooth Reservoir, both staples of the Fort Collins community.

In this webisode, Caruso—along with featured guest JPMS™ Editorial Director Noogie Thai and the Studio Be team—toured New Belgium and tasted several of its beers, which became inspiration for hair color. Caruso and Studio Be partner stylist Laurie Weeks-Kus created amazing new colors and applied them to a guest back at the salon. Caruso also found incredible brand alignment with New Belgium, whose dedication to its employees, its products, and the environment echoes the ethos of the entire JPMS™ organization.

The webisode also explores Horsetooth Reservoir, a 6.5-mile stretch of water on 1,900 acres of protected Colorado wilderness at an elevation of about 5,400 feet. While offering an amazing way to experience the Fort Collins outdoors lifestyle, the activities that Horsetooth affords—hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, etc.—can be very damaging to hair. Caruso, Thai, and Weeks-Kus showcase how JPMS™ products can revitalize damaged hair and how an experience at a top salon like Studio Be can be both pampering and creative.

Style Trip Fort Collins is now live on the Paul Mitchell YouTube Channel, with the next two episodes—which will visit Springfield, Missouri, and Burlington, Vermont—scheduled to debut late this year and in early 2020.
