Alternative Hair Show 2013: better than ever!

Wednesday, 16 October 2013 13:34

The 2013 edition maintains its focus on charity initiatives and international creativity.

“Enigma” was the theme proposed to inspire hairdressers from every corner of the globe and it did so beyond all expectations. Hairdressing professionals gave the ultimate effort in terms of creativity, technique, choreography and avant-gardism – on stage at the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London for and audience of more than 5,000.

As always, the event was for a charitable cause: the “Fighting Leukaemia” association and their fundraising efforts to benefit research in the battle against leukaemia. The result was a check for an incredible 181,000 pounds. Over the last thirty years, the London event has collected more than 9 million pounds for the charity.

Tony Rizzo, founder and backbone of the event, shared emcee tasks at the AH 2013 with President Anthony Mascolo. The evening kicked off with some well-deserved praise for international stars from the world of hairdressing – includingw, who introduced his new fundraising project for the fight against leukaemia.

Young talents also get to strut their stuff at this London event, bringing many surprises with the Visionary Award 2013. The winner is young talent Misha Cadkova from the Czech Republic.

Other highlights included shows by the creative teams, featuring such international talents as:  Saco, Anne Veck, Mark Woolley, Peter Mark, Gogen, Robert Masciave, Mikel Luzea, Fehringer, è Salon, Tigi International Creative Team, Nicholas French, Bundy Bundy, Kohsuke Visual Network, Mahogany, Klaus Peter Ochs, Laszlo Hajas, Dmitry Vinokurov, Carlo Bay. There were no surprises when Sanrizz rounded off this 31st edition of the most exciting hair show in the world.

And again this year, the winners of the AIPP Awards 2013-2014 were invited onto the mecca of the Royal Albert Hall stage. Over 5,000 hairdressers applauded for Toni Mascolo who received the AH +AIPP International Legend Award 2013. Mascolo gave a moving acceptance speech and received the award from Roberto Pissimiglia (AIPP president), Tony Rizzo (founder of AH) and his brother Anthony Mascolo.

Toni Mascolo then remained on stage with Roberto Pissimiglia to present the prizes to the five winners of the AIPP Awards 2013-2014:
