Intercoiffure mourns former President Mondial & Hairdressing Legend Maurice Franck

Wednesday, 30 May 2018 19:00

We have lost a great hairdressing legend, Maurice Franck, President of Intercoiffure Mondial. He was an inspirational icon who gave Intercoiffure and the industry breath-taking presentations of professional hairstyling and a profound passion to elevating the craft.

His rich personality made his presence memorable to those who met him or saw him doing what he loved; styling hair. We join the organization in the loss of this industry icon.

Franck was a rooted part of Parisian hair fashion history and is reknowned for styling the stars and celebrities of his time. Duchesses, princesses and actesses were his clients, including Marlene Dietrich, who even became one of her close friends.

Since his early years, Maurice Franck was attracted by hairdressing and hairstyling. He started at the age of 16 in a men’s salon. He then joined Alex Torino who would become his mentor, and after his apprenticeship he would continue his career as Torino’s personal assistant. During this time, Franck had already started some of his collaborations with some of the French Fashion Houses, especially with Nina Ricci.

Franck was also a fantastic mentor who paid great attention to foster talent in the youth. His goal to continuously develop Intercoiffure a strong worldwide organization never faltered by training young industry professionals to strive for their best.

In 1960 he was appointed VP of Intecoiffure France, followed by his title to Presidency of the organization. At the ICD World Congress in NY in 1980, he became Artistic President of intercoiffure Mondial. Then in 1993 he succeeded Alexandre de Paris for a 7 year term as the President of Intercoiffure Mondial.
