Hair Legend Trevor Sorbie receives Honorary Doctorate

Monday, 17 July 2017 11:53

Trevor Sorbie has been presented with an Honorary Doctorate by the University of the West of Scotland at Paisley Campus graduation ceremony. This Doctorate is to recognize his outstanding contribution to business, social awareness of suffering and crisis in cancer patients.

What makes this so special is Trevor's incredible hairdressing journey began over 50 years ago in Paisley, Scotland, a place he recently revisited to create his latest documentary.

The pioneering, non-profit charity, mynewhair, that offers a wig customizing service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss, celebrated its tenth year in business last year. Now working with lead cancer centres it enables more patients to access the wig styling service and so the charity is experiencing increasing demand and an increase in referrals.

Trevor continues to run monthly workshops to train other hairdressers in the art of wig customization, and works closely with the NHS to ensure that this service can become widely available to all those who need it. As the charity continues to grow, with the support of L’Oréal Professionnel, Trevor will be rolling the mynewhair concept worldwide in the coming years.
