Sola Salon Studios unveiled exciting initiatives during exclusive Sola Sessions event in Washington, DC

On Monday, May 8th, 200 Sola Salon professionals from 21 different states joined the Sola Sessions DC event at Tysons Corner Marriott for a full day of inspiration, motivation and education.

The Sessions are all about inspiring, motivating and educating Sola professionals by providing them with everything a stylist needs to know for today’s market in the areas of business, artistic education and marketing. Attendees also enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with, and learn from, others in the dynamic Sola community.

This event featured Sola Salon Studios very own VP of Marketing & Education Jennie Wolff with marketing advice; Carol Phillips from BEAUTEESMARTS with business tips and inspiration; textured hair care and styling education came via Mizani educators Evie Johnson, Jada Jenkins and Jamal Edmonds; and a plethora of cutting, color and styling education was offered by Paul Mitchell’s VP of Education Stephanie Kocielski and Sarah Kobeski. Event Partners, who were present at the vendor expo and provided technology, makeup, skincare, salon tools, sundries and so much more, included SolaGenius, Hattori Hanzo Shears, Paul Mitchell, Mizani, SalonCentric HydroPeptide, Klass, CosmoProf and Product Club. Energy and excitement were the total perfume of this event! Our cutting segment gave the Sola-nation real-time techniques to allow the ‘art of the upgrade’ to happen with two to three services per guest…making the guest experience grow!

During the event, Wolff revealed Sola’s new app, SolaGenius, and discussed the various ways technology can be utilized to market and run a more efficient salon, including how much time it saves to offer online booking for clients. Then she and event emcee Kim Bennett Horvath announced the exciting collaboration with Eyes on Cancer, a training program designed for hairdressers and beauty professionals to recognize the early signs of skin cancers on the head and scalp. During the month of May –honoring Skin Cancer Awareness Month– Sola will be covering the cost for the Sola community to become certified.

The next EXCLUSIVE Sola Sessions event will be held in West Palm Beach on Monday September 18th. Tickets go on sale Monday, July 10th, and will be available for $99 (valued at $300) and includes education, swag bag, prizes, vendor expo, lunch and happy hour.
