Thursday, 16 March 2017 18:20

Wella Professionals Top Artist, Aubrey Loots has had a career where his passion for hairdressing has been the main reason for his unparalleled success. His name in known throughout the industry and is usually met with a smile.

His selfies dominate social media at the top Wella events and the feeds of all the lives he touches, spanning from clients, to educators and hairdressing students who aspire to become the type of professional with that level of success.

Those outside of the hairdressing world may not realize the profound difference hairdressers make in people’s lives. For some, a visit to the salon is simply a place to get a trim or a root touch-up, but the impact is far more substantial. After having experienced the past NYFW, Wella Professionals Top Artist, Aubrey Loots reflects back on a life-changing opportunity during NYFW Sept 2016 that reminded him why he first got into this business.

Last season, Aubrey was presented with the life changing opportunity to style Reshma Qureshi, a survivor of an acid attack. When Aubrey, key hairstylist, learned he would be styling Reshma for designer Archana Kochhar from India for the FTL Moda show alongside Key Make Up Artist Chika Chan owner of Make Up Pro NY, he was honored and deeply humbled.

Having the opportunity to work on Reshma, someone I consider to be so brave, will be with me for the rest of my life,” said Aubrey. “I was so inspired by her, it made me reflect on my own life and pushed me to be even more courageous out in the world.”

Aubrey styled Reshma with Wella Professionals EIMI collection, his go-to line for all NYFW styling needs. He wanted to keep the hair elegant, yet simple in order to hero the jewelry that would be placed on top of her head. While Aubrey’s recalls Reshma as being a bit shy, she was extremely happy with the final look and graciously thanked both Aubrey and Chika.

Looking back on the experience, Aubrey’s takeaway and message for others in the industry is, “Hairdressers have such a profound effect on people. It's not just the hair, but the connections we make with the people in our chair – relationships are formed, and you learn so much about yourself through others.

Aubrey would like all hairstylists to be reminded of what a great gift they can provide.
