Intercoiffure Fall Atelier sets Forth Prime Industry Changes in the Future of Beauty

Tuesday, 11 October 2016 20:22

Day two at Intercoiffure Fall Atelier 2016 started early, with talent that represented exciting new changes that are coming in the next months to come.

There are many tribes involved in the celebration of beauty composed of a special mecca of talent. From brands that have lead the industry for years, to young entrepreneurs and salon owners who are just now joining the ICA family, this is a place where the differences between each brand, salon, and hairdresser gets celebrated.

The weekend started on Sunday, with breathtaking shows and some seriously exciting appointments!

This year Candy Shaw was appointed New Membership Chairman this year by Frank Gambuzza, the organization’s President. Candy currently sits on Intercoiffure’s Board of Directors and has held that position since 2013. Her appointment as New Membership Chairman is just another in a long line of volunteer positions Candy has held on Intercoiffure’s behalf. She and Frank presented the new members with certificates and recognized each and every new member.

Another announcement of a wonderful woman’s new appointment is that of Tracy Hughes, where she announced her move to the states and her newest appointment as the Global Creative Director with RevitaLash Cosmetics, and the revolutionary haircare collection ReGenesis Hair Enhancing System. As part of Tracey’s involvement with ReGenesis, she will be introduced a brand new image campaign, focusing on cutting edge haircuts and styles that help transform the look of thinning, fine hair, which was revealed for the first time on Main Stage.

Sunday also saw Paul Mitchell’s Angus Mitchell, Robert Cromeans, Lucie Doughty, and Mary Cuomo parented Live Beautifully, followed by Oscar Blandi’s collection for Wella Professionals depicting city life, from urban chic, to high society all in one stage. Then James Pecis and Coby Alcantar from Oribe brought the haute Paris couture from last eek overseas and to the Waldorf’s stage, where they explained the concept of fashion, trends, and how anyone can get one-on-one education through Oribe's Journey of Mastery.

One of the major announcements to Intercoiffure members throughout the whole weekend was when Salvador Mauceri got onstage for Wella, explaining its merger with OPI and the commencement of Coty Professional Beauty, who will once again sponsor 2 talented and beautiful ladies: Belinda Wall Gambuzza as intercoiffure Education Director and Sonya Dove as Intercoiffure Color director for 2 more years!

As a part of this announcement, Sonya delivered an incredibly inspirational performance. She presented Burning Dream that the gala, where she had almost an hour to dedicate to these new changes and displayed her artistry with Wella Professionals colors. Sonya’s concept was inspired from her personal journey at Burning Man, a mecca of giving and love, where anyone can connect through the art and performance, which is exactly what she served ICA for desert after the dinner.

On Monday the fiesta started early with the likes of, Ted Gibson and the emerging launch of STARRING, his product line that is set to launch in the coming months.

And for the fist time in her life, Magnolia, or as many know her on Instagram, @confessionsofaminihairstylist, got onstage and educated with an updo that normal hands would struggle creating, but not this prodigy’s hands. The self-taught braider was assisted by her mother and master educator Jenny Strebe, or @confessionsofahairstylist. Magnolia met Jamison Shaw, who spoke to the prodigy onstage as a display of the future, present, and past of the industry all wrapped in a single moment.

L’Oréal Professionnel shared the project that they are involved in with social media gurus Ahn Co Tran and Johnny Ramirez education, with the announcement of the new A.R.T. Academy Ramirez Tran! Designed by the unconventional hairdressers, this educational platform is unique because it beings their expertise and journey into the education of the course.

Goldwell dominated the stage with a show by Rebeca Hiele and Shane Bennett in A Unity of Strength, Confidence and Complexity, where models strutted up and down the catwalk representing that timeless looks of the brand. Then Goldwell closed the afternoon with Sharon Blaine, who presented onstage with a gorgeous display of art, Twisted Aura, inspired by the one and only Alexander McQueen. Having been inspired by his show, she centered hers on four angels followed by four darker angels, all clad in sequins, feathers and textures, as McQueen is known for. Sharon, used butterflies, wires, masks and textures that she crafted from, as she says, her favorite place; the hardware store.

The press luncheon forecasts Intercoiffure’s new collection directed by Van Council and his team. Despite this being an election year, Van focused the collection of the year on the concept of the patriotic fighter. Seeing the collection, one notices the streaks of color representing the country, and short hair apt a warrior.

Stay tuned in the coming week for more in-depth articles about each new changes that are taking place. There is clearly a shift happening with many new developments, but it is truly appropriate to see it all happen on the same stage at the Waldorf’s NYC Ballroom for the seemingly last time. On to new changes, a different location, and a generation of powerful women and leading brands that will be molding the future of beauty!

In the meantime, enjoy the gallery below!
